GRITIT™'s proven mobilization procedures for winter gritting campaigns ensure that we get things right from day one, drawing in the best of our resources from across the board.
Why mobilization plans matter to you
Setting up any national contract is a detailed process which includes the logistics of physically visiting each location and which requires a clear mobilization plan and schedule. GRITIT™ has a vast experience of mobilizing large national contracts. In our view, service must be delivered to all locations on the first night of activity with 100% compliance to required standards. The safety critical nature of gritting does not allow for a bedding in period as operators get familiar with each location and formulate the most practical way to service them. GRITIT™ prides itself on being completely ready before any potential risk presents itself and thus avoiding any issues such as unforeseen access problems or misinterpretation of site plans.
National account directors
Our national account directors are your mobilization leads, monitoring and managing progress of the mobilization plan built for you, and personally managing contracts through to completion of the term. National account directors take on much of the overall responsibility and are your dedicated point of contact. Their responsibilities include intensive co-ordination with each region during the first month to ensure the contract continues to run smoothly, and to resolve unforeseen mobilization-related issues quickly and efficiently. Our national account directors work with you ans your representatives/managing agents throughout your contract period as your main point of contact, and oversee the responsibilities of our other staff and teams involved.
GRITIT™ assigns a regional director onto your project as per the regions involved. Regional director plan all operational resources, vehicles and materials for their region, ensuring equipment and vehicles have been ordered, serviced and fully operational and all compliance documentation has been prepared and signed-off by our Safety, Health, Environment and Quality team (SHEQ). This includes risk assessments and method statements as part of service plans provided for every site/location.
Our regional directors are supported by regional managers and assistant regional managers who survey your site to plan the resources required. Regional managers deliver our Lantra-accredited induction training for all operators prior to season start, which includes health and safety procedures, customer service training, winter driving, equipment training, and how to use their smartphone. Between them, the regional management team is responsible for planning routes and operator work schedules. During mobilization, our management team visits your site locations to verify and update our site database in real time using mobile technology loaded with our PULSE gritting intelligence system. This ensure a smooth start according to your schedule.
The IT team at HQ plays a crucial role in your mobilization as they ensure that site and contract data is entered into our database and the operator’s smartphones operate correctly. This includes ensuring that geo-mapping data is set up within our IT systems and smartphones for all your sites to provide a full audit trail of data so our operators can work efficiently and safely.
The helpdesk manager ensures that all helpdesk systems are working and sets up access to all your staff, including setting up the interface to share data, supporting documents and information with you for your daily and monthly reporting.
SHEQ compliance manager
The SHEQ compliance manager prepares and ensures that all quality, environmental and health and safety plans and procedures are in place at each of our yards for to ensure full compliance. Our standards are your standards and our premises are scrutinized constantly to ensure that they pass the strictest of checks with flying colours.
GRITIT's HR coordinator ensures that all our operatives are up to date with their DBS checks.

The extremes of recent years have demonstrated the unpredictability of winter weather in the UK. If you're responsible for a portfolio of buildings, facilities, business or retail parks, this can make it challenging to budget for the costs of winter services. At GRITIT™, we offer a breadth of commercial arrangements with the flexibility to meet the needs of your business. Pay for gritting and/or snow clearance only when needed with a cost per visit (CPV) arrangement that ensures you only pay when the weather conditions trigger a visit. For more cost predictability, fixed price deals for the winter are ideal and ensure peace of mind that no matter how harsh the winter, you will only pay the agreed price.
This covers all visits for winter gritting and/or snow clearance when the agreed weather condition trigger is reached. For clients seeking a hybrid model that combines elements of both arrangements we can create a tailored commercial plan. We can also work with you to customise the triggers for visits according to the exact temperature or snow conditions that meet your requirements – and advise on best practice for doing so while keeping your sites safe.
